Subscribe
A simplest way to keep up-to-date with the latest posts on this blog is to subscribe through the RSS feed.
So what is RSS?
RSS, “Really Simple Syndication”, is a trendy technology that now millions of web surfers use to keep track of their favourite websites. People subscribe news feeds and new content would be delivered to you when they are updated.
Getting start
It needs some time to learn new things and new technology but I see the RSS thing is that once you started you just couldn’t stop.
Get a RSS Reader (Software Program)
There are many RSS Feed Readers around. I use Google Reader. Of course there are plenty more to choose from, but I think Google Reader is fairly easy to use, web-based (meaning you can log in and use it from anywhere on any computer) and will definitely help you get started.
After you subscribed feeds, every time you open the reader, you’ll see unread entries from sites you subscribed. It’s so simple and now information just comes to you rather then you spending time going around to check for updates. It’s just so cool, isn’t it?
Grab a feed
Using a feed reader
I always think the best way to learn is to give it a go. Ok, if you have fired up / logged on to your RSS Reader, here this site’s feed:

You might have notice nowadays there will be little buttons appeared on your favourite websites or blogs. Usually a little orange button, or with the word ‘RSS’, but they can be with other shapes and sizes. So when you see those, it’s almost certain that the website or blog you are looking at has a ‘feed’ that you can subscribe to. Generally speaking, you can copy and paste the link into the RSS Reader and it’s done. (or better, follow the instructions of subscribing to feeds using your chosen RSS Feed Reader.)
Browser subscription
Modern Browsers such as IE7 and Firefox also have the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds. If you see a orange button at the right hand side of the address bar, it means there’s a feed for subscribe.
If you want to easily subscribe to feeds from your browser and using the feed reader of your choice, you can define it and choose ‘Google Reader’, for example, as your default feed reader.
